Without Words

There are no words for me to express the heartbreak I feel today after learning of the events in Newtown, CT.  My thoughts and prayers are with the Newton
community and those personally affected by this tragedy.

With the busy lives we lead, a hug on the way out or an "I love you" text often goes without.

But it should not take such senseless acts of violence for us to remember how
important our loved ones are.

Take a moment today to tell them.

And tell them every day from now on.

Christmas Cocktails

The Christmas season is full of parties and get togethers.
And if your friends, are like my friends, you will enjoy a cocktail or two over the next few weeks.

Here are a couple of festive cocktails that I am looking forward to this year:

Bloody Mary
You can't beat a good Bloody Mary.  This is my favorite for holiday brunches.

Mulled Red Wine
I love Mulled Wine and it makes the house smell so yummy!

Royal Plush
This one is just so festive!  And I love that it has bubbles {from Champagne}

Champagne Mojito
Another champagne based cocktail, but this one with a twist of mint.

Amazon
This one isn't a drink, but one of my favorite Christmas Albums.
Very retro and sets a great mood for a holiday party.

What are some of your favorite seasonal cocktails?

Until Tomorrow . . .

Book Club: Three Girls Series by Rachel Schurig

Given that my last read, Interred With Their Bones was a little intense,
I decided to go with some lighter fare for my next book{s}.
Every now and then I need a something like this to curl up with on
the weekends and before going to bed.

And the books of the "Three Girls" series by Rachel Schurig were just what I was looking for.

I ran across these books on my Kindle one evening, and quickly, after DEVOURING
the first book in a single night {it was a tough morning at work the next day,}
I promptly downloaded the rest of the series.

Four books make up the "Three Girls" series:

And each book follows one of four girls on her path to true love and happiness.
{The fourth girl "KiKi comes into the series in the second book, and I couldn't have been more excited that she gets her own book too!!  She reminds me of a dear friend.}
By the end of it all, I found myself wanting to be friends with these girls!
They seem like so much fun!
If you like any of the books written by Sofie Kinsella or Emily Griffin, I think you will really like these.

The "Three Girls" Series is available on Amazon.
And just in time for the holidays, Rachel Schurig has created a digital boxed set of the first three books. Trust me, you will want to read all of them.

Let me know what you think!

Until tomorrow . . .

Must See Holiday Movies

Much like the commercials I wrote about yesterday, there is a list of
 movies that I just have to see each holiday season.

There is nothing better than cozying up on the couch to watch one of my favorites.
I don't have any of them on DVD or VHS {yes, my parents still have a VCR!}
so it is even more special when I find them on TV.

"A Christmas Story" 24 hours straight on TBS every year!
{Starts at 8pm}

The Grinch is so evil-y wonderful

I couldn't tell you how many times growing up my friends and I imitated the
"Kevin tries aftershave" yell

This isn't technically a Christmas movie, but Judy Garland's
"Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" gets me every time

Disney knows how to tell a story and this adaptation with all my
favorite characters can't be beat

There are just too many good songs in this one and Bing Crosby has one of the best
"Christmas Song Voices" out there

South Coast Repertory's adaptation of "A Christmas Carol"
This isn't a movie, but if you are in the Southern California area this is a MUST SEE.
The company puts on an amazing show every year and Scrooge is an Orange County legend.

What are some of your favorite Holiday movies?

Until tomorrow . . .

Christmas Commercials

Even though I work in marketing, I'm not one to watch commercials.
In fact, most of my TV viewing these days is done via DVR where I can breeze through the breaks. {I've even been known to skip my own commercials from time to time!}

But at Christmastime, there are those select few that make me put down the remote.
In fact, it doesn't really feel like the holidays until I've seen a select few

Here are some of my favorites.

Hershey's Kisses

Mercedes Benz

M&M's

Budweiser

And my #1: Corona {not surprising for a California girl}

What are some of your favorite Holiday Commercials?

Until tomorrow . . .
